DMV COMMEMORATES REOPENING OF RENOVATED SPRINGFIELD GARDENS OFFICE
Facility Increases Customer Service to Area Residents

Commissioner David J. Swarts of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today commemorated the reopening of the renovated Springfield Gardens District Office, which was closed for renovations from January 28 through March 31, 2008. The new floor plan offers easy access for DMV customers and will increase customer service.

"Serving the Motoring Public of the New York Metropolitan Area in the most convenient and efficient manner is a constant goal of the Department," Commissioner Swarts said. "This renovated office integrates newer technologies along with a better configuration to ensure improved service for our customers."

Among the improvements is the information counter which is prominently located when customers enter the office. The camera area is located adjacent to the information counter, giving staff greater flexibility in serving customers. Customers are now seated in the center of the office, offering higher visibility and easy access to any customer work station to which their number is called.

The Springfield Gardens office continues to offer the same full service as before the renovation. In addition, the facility also features QMatic, a versatile numbering system that enables the staff to more efficiently serve customers in more comfort.

The renovated office, located on the first floor of 168-35 Rockaway Boulevard, Jamaica, New York 11434 (cross streets 175th St. and 148th Ave.), maintains the same hours of operation: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
