All NYS DMV offices are OPEN on Friday, July 3. Several county offices are closing early on Thursday, July 2 and MOST county DMV offices are closed on Friday, July 3 to observe the 4th of July holiday. See the list of offices that are closed on the Delays, Cancellations, and Closings page.

Follow these tips to avoid delays at the DMV office:

• Bring all of the documentation and the fees you need to conduct your transaction.
• Bring your proof of identity. Proof of Identity is required for all transactions. Proof of date of birth is also required for many transactions.
• Verify the office hours before you visit a DMV office. Many offices have evening hours at least one day of the week. Some satellite offices are not open for business every day.
• Visit the offices when they are least busy. The offices are busiest during the lunch hour, on the first day and the last day of a month, and on the day before a holiday.
• You can do many transactions on-line, by mail, or by phone. See the DMV Transaction Page before you visit a DMV office.
