Graduated Driver License Law Changes

For Drivers Under Age 18

There are important changes to the NYS Graduated Driver License Law for junior drivers that take effect soon.

These changes can affect:

  • The number of passengers outside your family who can ride with you, and
  • The amount of time required between the date your permit is issued and the date you can take your road test, and
  • The type of junior license you will receive when you pass your road test.
